“Pears Soap was something I always remembered my Granny having when I was little. Where did it go? I tried to bring back a nostalgic feeling to the soap by using elements the company had previously discarded in order for a more ‘contemporary look’. I redesigned their logo, wrapped the soap in a wax map because I felt the soap had really forgotten where it came from.”
Kieran Reilly is a graphic designer, based in Glasgow, Scotland. Focused on advertising, branding and typography.

“We were asked to create an identity that could convey the craftsmanship of a highly skilled production agency. We chose to use the visual and graphic elements that Studion uses every day to build the identity, such as cropmarks, color bars and crosshairs. These elements are beautiful on their own and deserve to be the main focus for a change. They also give a hint of the accuracy that is paramount for a well executed job.”
Bold is a new agency with an old belief: good design is good for business. And because we believe that good becomes great if strategic advise and well-crafted design goes hand in hand when developing brands, we offer both.

Grow your own typeface
These intricate visuals have been produced by an interactive application used to grow type mathematically. They were produced by Jana Schiebel and Caroline Hebel as part of a ‘generative typography’ project at the University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden, near Frankfurt in Germany.
I haven’t been able to find much information on the process but you can see that by specifying the number of lines and the acuteness of each angle, varying of degrees success can be achieved in defining the structure of the letterforms.
See more ‘Math type’ here.
